Mums the word at Daybreak for Keith Chegwin

Keith ChegwinAnother former face of GMTV is to join ITV’s morning magazine series Daybreak as Keith Chegwin returns to early mornings after an absence of over three years.

Chegwin, currently a contestant on ITV’s celeb ice skating competition, Dancing On Ice, started his morning career on Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast where he surprised members of the public by knocking on their door to appear on telly. He later also co-hosted the wacky morning show which was axed a decade ago.

He then for seven years was a regular fixture on GMTV, leaving not long before its final curtain in 2010.

Keith – nicknamed Cheggers – will present a feature on Daybreak from 4th March called Thanks Mum ahead of Mother’s Day that weekend.  Keith will do what he does best, knocking on doors and surprising mums in their nighties all over the country with messages from their loved ones.

During his time at morning TV, Cheggers knocked on hundreds of doors from Lands Ends to John O’Groats and gave away thousands of pounds in prize money.

“I love morning telly it’s fantastic and I can’t wait to be on Daybreak.  It’s going to be really lovely surprising the nations’ mums with messages from their families – I think it might get a bit emotional but hopefully they’ll all be pleased to see me!

“It will be just like the old days going out knocking on doors again, I used to have such a blast doing it for GMTV and I’m sure it’ll be the same for Daybreak.” Keith says.

Thanks Mum will air on Daybreak week commencing 4th March. Details of how to nominate your mum to be surprised by Keith will be revealed on the breakfast show in early February.

ATV Today showbiz reporter Queenie, over a vodka and tonic told us, “Another highclass reporter to add to Daybreak’s array of elegance. Although thankfully I assume he won’t be getting his willy out for us all to try and see on this show.”
