CBS Renews Daytime Shows Including The Bold and the Beautiful
CBS has renewed its entire daytime line-up which include soaps The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless as well as game-shows The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal.
CBS has revealed it has renewed its entire daytime line-up through to 2014. That’s good news for soap fans as both The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless will continue through to next year. The Bold and the Beautiful is the most watched daytime soap in the world with an estimated daily audience of 30 million viewers.
The Los Angeles soap suffered two blows last year with the departures of original cast members Ronn Moss and Susan Flannery leaving John McCook and Katherine Kelly Lang as the last remaining originals on the soap. Ratings have remained healthy for B&B though with an average audience of 3.4 million viewers per episode.
“Over the past few years, we have successfully transitioned our daytime schedule to a balance of program genres with new creative energy, while maintaining our ratings leadership. We are proud of CBS’s history of quality and leadership in Daytime, thrilled with our current success and we look forward to more great things ahead from the outstanding creative talent in place at each of the shows.” – Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment
The Young and the Restless remains America’s top rated soap with an average audience of 4.6 million viewers. It has been the top-rated soap for a staggering 24 years which is no mean feat! In March of this year the soap will mark its 40th anniversary on-air.
The Talk has also been renewed; the chat-show launched in 2010 as a replacement for the cancelled soap opera As The World Turns. The Talk was created by actress Sara Gilbert and averages 2.3 million viewers. Gilbert is part of the panel of women on the series which also includes Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne.
Game-shows The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal are also part of the renewal of CBS’s daytime schedules. With the renewals of B&B and Y&R all of the remaining daytime soaps on-air have been re-commissioned through to at least next year. That isn’t bad considering many were predicting the demise of Days of our Lives and General Hospital not so long ago!
