Community “could” get fifth season

CommunityNBC has not ruled out comedy series Community being renewed for a fifth season.

The low-rated comedy is due to return to NBC in February for its fourth season. The road to season four hasn’t exactly been smooth for Community; creator and showrunner Dan Harmon stepped down from his role while actor Chevy Chase is only appearing in two episodes. With big changes happening behind-the-scenes its understandable that fans of the comedy are worried about its future.

At the Television Critics Association Winter Tour in Pasadena NBC boss Robert Greenblatt was quizzed on Community‘s future and whether it could return for a fifth season. Greenblatt told reports “We’re always hopeful for a show to continue. And we co-own it. I’d love nothing more than to see it continue.”

On the issue of Chevy Chase’s departure Greenblatt said “Actors come and go on a lot of shows and this is a big ensemble…..I don’t think that’s going to be a big negative about the future of the show.” And whether the fourth season of Community will be noticeably different for fans Greenblatt replied “You’re going to see relatively the same show you’ve seen before and I hope that’s a good thing, maybe there’s a little more heart built into it, but we didn’t fundamentally change it”.

Community is due to return to NBC on February 7th
