Gillian Taylforth has joined the cast of Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, according to a Sunday tabloid.
The Daily Star Sunday reports that Taylforth is due to begin filming for the teen saga in an as-yet unknown role after leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house in which she is a current housemate.
I’m nervous but I’m also really looking forward to it.
It was a big decision as I have been away from soaps for a long time. But it’s a long contract so it will be nice to settle back into something. – Taylforth
However, a spokesperson for the soap told Digital Spy that nothing has been confirmed.
Taylforth is well known to soap audiences for her role as Kathy Beale in BBC One’s EastEnders which she played between 1985 and 2000.
The 57-year-old went on to have regular roles in ITV dramas Footballers’ Wives and The Bill and has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing. Early television roles included a part in 1970’s The Rag Trade.
