Michael French To Leave Casualty

BBC-Michael-FrenchMichael French is leaving medical saga Casualty, it has been announced.

The news of the actor’s departure was made via the show’s official Twitter feed. French will appear in a further four episodes before his character of Nick Jordan bows out.

“#NickJordan is back for four final episodes from this Saturday, Sad news, but let’s enjoy #NickJordan in his final four episodes and the other medics will be here to get us through this difficult time.” – Casualty on Twitter

The character first appeared in the ED based medical saga in 1998 prior to the launch of spin-off Holby City in 1999; the character was part of the cast of the spin-off until 2000. He reprised the role in a Casualty/Holby City crossover during Christmas 2005 before returning to Holby City properly in 2006. The actor bowed out again later that year, joining Casualty as a regular two years later with a further one-off appearance in Holby City in 2010.

Last year the actor took a break from Casualty to reprise his role of David Wicks in fellow BBC One saga EastEnders. The move was brought about by the departure of his on-screen mum Pat Butcher following Pam St Clement’s decision to leave the soap.

Casualty continues tonight at 8.50pm on BBC One.
