The actor confirmed his sexuality when asked about an entry on his Wikipedia page which stated he was in a long-term relationship with Rainer Andreesen. According to GregInHollywood the actor confirmed the entry was corrected stating “I don’t really talk about it, but everybody knows. He’s going to be out here with me for the [Screen Actors Guild] Awards”
Garber is currently playing the role of Robert Bowers in NBC‘s new mystery series Deception. The actor took over the role of Charlie Townsend in 2011 for ABC‘s ill-rated reboot of the classic 1970s detective drama Charlie’s Angels. Actor John Forsythe voiced the character of Charlie in the original series and the two Hollywood movies of the early 2000s. Sadly Forsythe died in 2010 before ABC’s re-launch of the drama. Garber was not producers first choice to voice the character in the reboot; Robert Wagner was originally hired but later parted ways with producers.
Garber’s other notable roles include Kip Wallice in Web Therapy, Bennett Herreshoff in Damages, Dr. Larry Toth in Flashpoint, Jordan Wethersby in Eli Stone and Jack Bristow in Alias. Amongst Garber’s film credits are Titanic, Argo and Milk. The actor filmed scenes for J.J Abram’s 2009 Star Trek film but these were cut from the theatrical release.
Garber’s confirmation comes just days after Jodie Foster officially came out during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. Last week television actor Matt Dallas, best known for his title role in the ABC series Kyle XY, also came out via Twitter.
