The Carrie Diaries Premiers To Soft Ratings

The-CW-Green-LogoThe Carrie Diaries, the prequel to Sex and the City, launched on The CW on Monday evening to soft ratings.

The drama has generated plenty of media interest but seemingly all those columns on the series did not transfer into viewers watching. The prequel launched at 8pm on The CW with an average audience of 1.6 million viewers which isn’t stellar launch figures. In terms of 18-49 viewers the drama had a 0.6 rating. The CW press machine will be keen to point out that a large portion of the target audience will download the episode or record it later – which means The Carrie Diaries will see a big boost through DVR figures.

Elsewhere last night CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother won the hour with 10.4 million viewers with a 3.8 rating followed by a repeat of The Big Bang Theory which had 11.5 million viewers and a 3.8 18-49 rating. The Bachelor on ABC averaged 7.4 million viewers with a 2.4 rating between 8-10pm while NBC’s The Biggest Loser had 6.2 million viewers with a 2.4 rating for the two-hour block. Fox crime drama Bones, recently renewed, pulled in 8 million viewers with a 2.1 rating.

At 9pm 2 Broke Girls on CBS pulled in 12.2 million viewers with a 4.1 rating followed by Mike & Molly which was seen by 11.5 million viewers with a 3.5 18-49 rating. Bones on Fox meanwhile had 7.7 million viewers with a 2.1 rating. At 10pm Hawaii Five-O averaged 9.3 million viewers with a 2.4 18-49 rating with Castle on ABC seen by 9.1 million viewers and a 1.9 rating. Deception on NBC pulled in 4.1 million viewers with a 1.6 rating – the series is now seen as likely to be axed.
