AMC Defends Itself Over Glen Mazzara’s Walking Dead Exit

AMCAMC has defended itself over criticised aimed at the broadcaster following the exit of Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara.

The Walking Dead knows how to go through show-runners; Frank Darabont and Glen Mazzara have come and gone and now the Zombie horror series has a new show-runner; Scott Gimple. The departure of Mazzara prompted some backlash especially from peers of the writers.

Following the backlash AMC chief John Sapan has responded to the cutting criticism and defended the broadcaster. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter he said “We really do believe that people who make great TV shows have a rare capability, and we hold them in extraordinarily high regard. Certainly it would be preferable to have as much continuity as possible. We’ll forge ahead and hope to make great shows and be the best place to work. We’ll do the best we can to be an environment where the best creative people can flourish. We’ll hopefully learn from everything we do”

You can’t blame fans though for wondering how long it will be before Scott Gimple is replaced as showrunner. After all The Walking Dead is only in its third season on-air and already it has gone through two show-runners!
