Daniel Radcliffe Discusses Filming Gay Sex Scenes

glbtHarry Potter and Woman in Black actor Daniel Radcliffe has discussed filming sex scenes for his new film Kill Your Darlings.

In the new film, which premiered at the Sundance film festival on Friday, the actor plays the late poet Allen Ginsberg. The film follows the poet as he meets writers William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac at college following a murder.

Kill Your Darlings features Radcliffe in a gay sex scene and the actor has discussed filming the scenes. He described the shooting of the scenes as “fast paced” according to Digital Spy and said “I didn’t really have time to stop to think and worry about it.” Radcliffe revealed the scenes were filmed “in maybe an hour and a half” and described the experience as “something new”. Radcliffe also revealed that the film’s director John Krokidas was “very helpful in furnishing me with a lot of graphic detail of what I would be experiencing at the various stages”

Daniel Radcliffe is an outspoken supporter of gay rights and has been honoured for his work with The Trevor Project. In a 2010 interview on his support for gay rights Radcliffe said “I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals. Now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it” Partly due to his support for gay rights the actor has faced some speculation in the press regarding his own sexuality though he has mostly laughed off press questions on the subject.

As well as being a supporter of gay rights Radcliffe was a supporter of the Liberal Democrat party and endorsed its leader, Nick Clegg, prior to the last general election. However, last year the actor announced he was switching his support to the Labour Party citing disappointment with the Lib Dems, Nick Clegg and the coalition government.

Kill Your Darlings also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jack Huston, Ben Foster, Kyra Sedgwick and Dexter actor Michael C Hall.
