New Additions To True Blood Cast Revealed

True-Blood-mediumActress Jurnee Smollett and Amelia Rose Blaire are to join the cast of True Blood for its forthcoming sixth season.

TV Line reports that the two actresses will join the cast of HBO’s supernatural hit. Smollett will join the cast as a new series regular playing Nicole a “a do-gooder who possesses the rosy outlook of someone that life hasn’t beaten down yet. She’s not concerned with money and more concerned with the doing what’s right.”

Amelia Rose Blaire will play the recurring role of Willa; daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard).

Jurnee Smollett will next be seen in NBC’s mid-season thriller Do No Harm which will star Steven Pasquale and James Cromwell: the thriller is a Dr Hyde and Mr Jekyll style series.  Smollett will perhaps be best known by viewers for her role of Jess Merriweather in the critically acclaimed Friday Night Lights. More recently the actress played Lisa Tyler in The Defenders and her other roles include appearances in Grey’s Anatomy, ER, House and Cosby.

Amelia Rose Blaire played Laura Mathison in 90210 for several episodes and her other credits include TNT’s Perception, Drop Dead Diva, The Glades and Touch.

The sixth season of True Blood will be the first without Alan Ball in direct charge of the series; the show-runner announced he was stepping down from day-to-day running of the drama just prior to the launch of the fifth season. True Blood’s new showrunner will be Mark Hudis who has served as the show’s co-executive producer since the fourth season.
