Doctor Who Return Date Announced

The official BBC Doctor Who website has announced the return date for the sci-fi series.

The seventh season of Doctor Who will continue its run on BBC One during the Easter weekend, Saturday 30th March – so confirms the official Doctor Who website. The Easter launch for Doctor Who has become traditional since the series returned to BBC One in 2005.

As yet the episode title for the first episode of 2013 has not been announced. Few details of the remaining episodes from seven season to air have been made public. However, Jenna Louise Coleman will continue in her role of Clara despite being killed off in the festive special The Snowmen and in the season opener Asylum of the Daleks. The “soft” arc of the seventh season is likely to be the how/why Clara keeps appearing in the Doctor’s life.

Confirmed guest stars for the remaining episodes include Dame Diana Rigg and her daughter Rachael Stirling as well as Ashley Walters, David Warner, Liam Cunningham, Dougray Scott and Jessica Raine. Confirmed writers include Steven Moffat, Neil Cross, Mark Gatiss, Stephen Thompson and Neil Gaiman will be penning his Rsecond episode following his hugely successful episode The Doctor’s Wife.

Doctor-Who-Neve-McIntoshThe characters Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey) are also set to appear in the remaining episodes. The Cybermen are confirmed as returning, for Neil Gaiman’s episode, while the Ice Warriors and Zygons are rumoured to feature in the episodes.
