The sixth and final season of Private Practice came to a close last night at 10pm on ABC with a rise in ratings. Overnight figures reveal that an average audience of 5.2 million viewers tuned in with a 1.5 18-49 rating. Last week’s penultimate episode of the medical series drew, for comparison, 4 million viewers with a 1.2 18-49 rating.
Elsewhere last night ABC’s new series The Taste launched at 8pm with 6 million viewers scoring a 2.2 18-49 rating. CBS repeated NCIS at 8pm with 12.7 million viewers tuning in giving the instalment a 1.7 18-49 rating. Raising Hope on Fox was seen by 4 million viewers, with a 1.7 18-49 rating, followed by Ben and Kate at 8.30 with 2.6 million viewers and a 1.2 rating as it continues its march towards cancellation. NBC’s Betty White’s Off Their Rocks had 5.6 million viewers with a 1.6 rating. The hour was rounded off by Hart of Dixie on The CW which had 1.5 million viewers with a 0.7 18-49 rating.
At 9pm Fox comedy New Girl mustered 4 million viewers with a 2.1 18-49 rating followed by The Mindy Project which had 2.9 million with a 1.5 rating. A repeat of NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS was seen by 11.6 million viewers with a 1.7 rating. Go On drew 3.9 million viewers to NBC, giving it a 1.3 18-49 rating, followed by The New Normal with 3.2 million viewers and a 1.2 rating. Cancelled drama Emily Owens M.D on The CW had 1.3 million viewers with a 0.5 rating giving the broadcaster no reason to doubt its axing decision.
At 10pm Parenthood was seen by 4.7 million viewers with a 1.7 rating while a repeat of Vegas rounded off CBS’s Tuesday evening with 7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating.
