Tuesday Ratings: Death in Paradise Continues To Perform For BBC One

Death-in-ParadiseOvernight ratings for Tuesday evening reveal that Ben Miller’s BBC One drama Death in Paradise is continuing to perform well in the ratings.

The fourth episode of the new series, which guest starred Michael Brandon and Kelly Adams, pulled in 6.5 million viewers at 9pm. Death in Paradise has been a ratings hit for BBC One since its season second kicked off earlier this month. Elsewhere at 9pm ITV’s Great Houses with Julian Fellowes plunged to 1.6 million viewers, The Undateables on Channel Four pulled in 2.6 million viewers and, as already noted, Dallas’s return to Channel 5 failed to sparkle with just 740,000 viewers.

At 8pm BBC One’s medical drama Holby City ruled the hour with 5.2 million viewers. Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on ITV had 2.5 million viewers while Supersize vs Superskinny on Channel 4 was seen by 1.5 million viewers. Benidorm ER on Channel Five meanwhile pulled in 1.1 million viewers.

Daytime:

PointlessBBC One’s long-running medical soap Doctors attracted 1.6 million viewers at 1.45pm. The drama was followed by the second episode of Jimmy McGovern’s anthology series Moving On. The drama returned yesterday for its fourth season with 1.4 million viewers. Tuesday’s play, Visiting Order, starred Rob James-Collier and Marian Saastad Ottesen and was seen by 1.43 million viewers. Later in the afternoon on BBC One tea time game-show Pointless had 3.52 million viewers.

On ITV during the day Dickinson’s Real Deal had 1.1 million viewers at 2pm followed by chat-show The Alan Titchmarsh Show which dipped below the 1 million mark with 970,000 viewers. Later on Bradley Walsh fronted game-show The Chase narrowly beat its BBC rival Pointless with 3.57 million viewers at 5pm.

At 2.40pm on Channel 4 long-running series Countdown continued its ratings struggle as 486,000 viewers tuned in but it rated better than Face the Clock which could only manage 360,000 viewers. At 4pm Deal or No Deal mustered 1 million viewers as did Four in a Bed at 5pm. At 5.30pm the ever popular Come Dine With Me pulled in 1.3 million viewers.

And in the multi-channel universe Sky Atlantic’s American import The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, attracted an impressive 390,000 viewers. That’s up from the 270,000 viewers who tuned in last Tuesday for the series premier.
