Corrie’s Charlie Condou hints at baby for Marcus

Coronation-Street-mediumCoronation Street actor Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus Dent, has spoken about his hope that his character will one day become a father.

Condou has spoken to the Radio Times about his recent storyline of falling in love with Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) despite having had a gay relationship with Rovers Return barman Sean Tully (Antony Cotton).

Asked whether him and Maria could have a baby, he said: “I think he’d love to, but obviously it’s early days for them.”

He went on to say that some fans were still finding it difficult to deal with as Marcus had always been gay in the show. Marcus first appeared on the street in 2007 but departed a year later. He returned in 2011 to rekindle his romance with Sean.

“People’s sexuality is sometimes confusing but I think it’s good that the writers are dealing with it in a really honest and respectful way. I think that’s the kind of stuff that Coronation Street does really well and I think it’s really good that it gets people talking and discussing all these things.” – Charlie Condou

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
