Sky 3D to air The Simpsons special
The Simpsons will join Sky 3D for the first time ever this February, with their special short film Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare.

The special, starring the youngest of the Simpson family, has scored an Academy Award® nomination for Best Animated Short.
The short tells the story of Maggie Simpson as she spends a day at the Ayn Rand Daycare Centre where she is diagnosed at an average intelligence level. Longing to be grouped with the gifted children, Maggie finds her destiny by rescuing a lonely cocoon from Baby Gerald, who is busy smooshing butterflies.
The dialogue-free four minute feature was directed by the programme’s stalwart David Silverman and written by regular series writers James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, David Mirkin, Joel H. Cohen and Michael Price.
Sarah Wright, Controller of Acquisitions, Sky Entertainment, commented: “The Simpsons is an iconic show for Sky 1 HD, so we are delighted to bring this brand new short film, Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare to all of our customers – with the added bonus that our Sky 3D viewers will be able to see it in glorious 3D for the first time ever!”
Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare will premiere on Sky 3D, with the 2D regular version on Sky 1 HD, on 17th February ahead of the Academy Awards on Sunday 24th February.
