The Ricki Lake Show Axed

Ricki-LakeRicki Lake’s new chat-show has been cancelled after just one season.

The syndicated television chat-show will not return for a second series after low ratings for its first series. Production will reportedly continue on The Ricki Lake Show until late March and repeats of the chat-show will continue to air until an unspecified date.

The new Ricki Lake Show launched on September 10th 2012 and is a co-production between Twentieth Television and Monet Lane Productions and is filmed at the Culver Studios in California.

According to reports Ricki Lake’s new chat-show ranks fourth (in terms of other chat-shows) behind the newly launched and recently re-commissioned Katie, Steve Harvey and The Jeff Probst Show. However, reports state the talk show is ahead of The Trisha Goddard Show and averages just under 1 million viewers.

Ricki Lake previously fronted a chat-show, self-titled, between 1993 and 2004 which was also syndicated and ran for 11 seasons. The talk show came to an end in 2004 despite production team Sony Pictures Television wishing to produce more episodes because Lake wished to spend more time with her family. Almost immediately reports began to surface that Lake would return to present a re-tooled version of the chat-show but it wasn’t until 2012 that the reports came true.
