Former ABC daytime soap One Life To Live has won an award over a year after it went off-air.

One Life to Live bowed out on ABC on January 13th 2012 and production is due to resume, thanks to Prospect Park’s revival, at the end of this month. Even though OLTL has been on-air now for over a year it has won an award; director Jill Mitwell as picked up a Director’s Guild Award.

The gong is for Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Daytime Series and is for the episode Between Heaven and Hell. The episode aired on 9th January 2012 and was consequently one of the last OLTL episodes to air on ABC. The title of the episode itself is interesting because Between Heaven and Hell is reportedly one of the early names for One Life to Live under consideration before the soap launched on 1968 when the serial was created by Agnes Nixon. The name was changed to One Life to Live to avoid controversy of its name.

Director Jill Mitwell has been nominated for the award nine times and has won on four occasions. As well as directing episodes of OLTL Mitwell has also directed episodes of CBS‘s now defunct series As The World Turns.
