Downton Abbey Ratings Hold Against Super Bowl
Ratings for PBS‘ period drama Downton Abbey held up on Sunday evening despite the presence of the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl is the most watched television event of the year but it seems not even the lure of it can stop some viewers from tuning in. PBS have announced that Sunday evening’s edition of Downton Abbey had an impressive 6.6 million viewers with an 18-49 rating of 4.4.
The PBS release notes that makes Downton the second most watched programme while the Super Bowl was on. Downton Abbey continues to be popular for PBS with its third season beating last year’s averages and the season premier being the most watched drama on the broadcaster ever.
Sunday evening’s episode dealt with the aftermath of Lady Sybil’s death (Jessica Brown Findlay) as Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) continued to blame Robert (Hugh Bonneville) over her daughter’s tragic death.
