Hollyoaks releases further details on Bissix return and Taylforth casting
Hollyoaks has released further details about the return of Gemma Bissix and the casting of Gillian Taylforth who is set to play the matriarch of a new family in the soap
Bissix is reprising her role as one of the soap’s most notorious villains Clare Devine, having previously played the character between 2006-2007 with a brief return in 2009.
Clare will return to the village in March and her latest storyline sees her coming between Mercedes Fisher (Jennifer Metcalfe) and her boyfriend Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) but exactly how she plans to tear them apart remains to be seen.
“I’m really looking forward to re-joining the cast of Hollyoaks. Clare Devine is one of my favourite characters and I can’t wait to get back into the role.
“I’m particularly excited to be working with Bryan Kirkwood again. He first cast me as evil Clare and I hear he is doing amazing things with Hollyoaks at the moment, so I’m really looking forward to being a part of it. Bring back the bitch!” – Gemma Bissix
Meanwhile, Gillian Taylforth is to play the role of Sandy Roscoe, the mother of five brothers who descend upon the village, and who are set to attract the attention of the local ladies.
“I am really looking forward to joining Hollyoaks, which is going from strength to strength under Bryan Kirkwood at the moment.
“My real family are excited to move up to Liverpool – a fantastic city – and I’m eager to meet my new family, five hunky Hollyoaks sons who I’m sure will all be saints!” – Gillian Taylforth
Taylforth is a well known face to soap fans having starred in EastEnders as Kathy Beale between 1985 and 2000, before going on to join soapy dramas Footballers Wives and The Bill.
