More An Adventure In Space and Time Casting Details Revealed

Doctor-Who-original-logoMore casting details for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary drama An Adventure In Space and Time have been revealed.

The actors who will be portraying William Russell and Jacqueline Hill in the special drama, which will chart the genesis of Doctor Who and its early years on television, have been announced. Jamie Glover will play William Russell in the drama while Jemma Powell will play Jacqueline Hill.

William Russell played school-teacher and reluctant companion Ian Chesterton in the early years of Doctor Who. Prior to his role in the sci-fi series he was best known for playing the title role in the ITV adventure series The Adventures of Sir Lancelot which ran for 30 episodes and was one of the first British dramas to be sold to an a major American broadcaster; NBC.

Jacqueline Hill played Barbara Wright; fellow school-teacher to Ian and also a reluctant time traveller. Prior to joining Doctor Who the actress had appeared in Joyous Errand and The Six Proud Walkers.

With the casting of Glover and Powell in An Adventure In Space and Time the principal original cast of Doctor Who is now complete. David Bradley is playing original Doctor Who actor William Hartnell and it was announced earlier this week that Claudia Grant is playing actress Carole Ann Ford who portrayed Susan Foreman.

Jamie Glover has had a wide variety of roles on television and film; he is the son of Julian Glover who has himself appeared in Doctor Who. He appeared alongside his father in the World War Two drama Wish Me Luck. His better known roles include appearances in Dalziel and Pascoe, Born and Bred, New Tricks and Midsomer Murders. He played Andrew Treneman in Waterloo Road between 2006 and 2009.

Jemma Powell has appeared in several films such as Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and on television played Tatania in the ITV2 drama series Footballers Wives: Extra Time. Powell has also appeared in ITV drama Foyle’s War and Sky‘s supernatural drama Hex.

It is also being reported that William Russell himself will make an appearance in An Adventure In Space and Time.
