Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor: Entertainment, Daytime & Soaps, says. “I am delighted to be bringing such an inspiring and emotionally-charged event to Channel 5. On a day when we celebrate mums, we’ll be championing some of Britain’s best.”

Channel 5Run by Tesco, the Mum of the Year Awards 2013 is hosted by Fiona Phillips and guests will include stars from stage, screen and sport, alongside this year’s incredible winning mums. Since 2006, Tesco Mum of the Year Awards has celebrated ordinary women who have done something extraordinary to help the lives of others. They continue to support, honour and reward inspirational mothers from all over the UK, who may otherwise go un-recognised.

Amongst this year’s line up the show will give a gong to Achieving Mum of the Year – Anna Kennedy from Middlesex, who re-mortgaged her home to set up a school for autistic children while Campaigning Mum of the Year is Margaret Aspinall from Liverpool, the Chair of the Hillsborough Families Support Group, who has campaigned for justice since losing her 18-year-old son over 23 years ago

Community Mum of the Year award winner is Mireille Williams from South Gloucestershire, a hero in her local area after saving a much-needed preschool from financial ruin while this year’s Celebrity Mum of the Year will be announced shortly before the Awards take place.

Simon Proctor, Executive Producer at Channel 5 Productions adds, “Channel 5 are excited to be involved with this wonderful annual event which celebrates the UK’s most inspiring women. I hope that families everywhere will enjoy hearing the winners’ incredible stories…while all mums are being spoilt rotten!”

The 60-minute special will be produced in-house by Channel 5 Productions.
