British acts do well at 55th Grammy Awards

UK-FlagA number of British music acts have picked up a gong at the 55th Grammy Awards.

The prestigious music ceremony took place in Los Angeles on Sunday evening with a total of 81 awards being handed out on the night.

Mumford & Sons won album of the year title for their worldwide smash Babel. They seen off The Black Keyes, Fun., Frank Ocean and Jack White.

Best pop solo performance went to new mum Adele for her song Set Fire To The Rain, performed live at the Royal Albert Hall. Adele took to the stage and thanked fellow female artists who she seen off.

Legendary rocker Sir Paul McCartney picked up a Grammy award for best traditional pop vocal album. The former Beatles front man has now amassed 16 Grammy awards throughout his career.

Other winners on the night were Gotye for his number one hit of 2012, Somebody That I Used To Know which won for record of the year. Song of the year went to Fun. for their smash hit We Are Young.
