Police officer arrested by officers from Operation Elveden

Operation Elveden has seen its 60th arrest this morning after a 50-year-old police officer was arrested early this morning.

Operation Elveden is the Metropolitan Police Service inquiry into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials. The Met Police officer in the Territorial Policing command was arrested at 6.00am on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.

Arrested in the Wimbledon area, he was ten to be interviewed at a south London police station.

Today’s arrest is the result of information provided to police by News Corporation’s Management and Standards Committee. The Met Police states that it relates to suspected payments to a police officer and is not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately.
