Video: Lightning strikes The Vatican

Just hours after Pope Benedict XVI announced that he will resign at the end of the month, a bolt of lightning stuck St Peters’s Basilica at The Vatican.

The strike was captured by news crews who swamped the area following the shock announcement yesterday morning. Pope Benedict XVI will make his final appearance as head of the Catholic church on 27 February, just one day before he officially abdicates.
