Womack keen for EastEnders return
Womack played troubled Ronnie Branning in the BBC One soap for four years between 2007 and 2011. After leaving she went on to star in the musical South Pacific.
Asked whether she would return to Albert Square, Womack told new! magazine: “Of course I would.”
But added that there are currently no plans for Ronnie’s return.
Speaking about the baby swap storyline which led to her character’s eventual exit, she said: “Ronnie wasn’t in a place where she could continue back then. She’d had too much grief.”
The highly controversial storyline attracted a record number of complaints. It saw Ronnie lose her baby son James to cot death before swapping him for neighbour Kat Moon’s baby son Tommy.
Ronnie’s exit saw her jailed for her actions and Womack later revealed the plot had been draining to film.
Womack is now keen to return to the soap to reunite with former co-stars.
She told new!: “I love them. I miss them all so much. I see Scott Maslen [who plays Jack] the most. We’ve known each other since we were teenagers.
“I also speak to Rita Simons [who plays Roxy] every couple of days. She’s like my sister – I adore her.”
