The Following Ratings Rise On Monday Evening

The Fox drama starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy pulled in 8.3 million viewers at 9pm with a 2.8 18-49 rating – that’s up from its 2.4 rating for last week’s episode. Actor James Purefoy has defended The Following, over its violent content, in a new interview with Vulture magazine.

At 8pm last night CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother pulled in 8.8 million viewers with a 3.4 18-49 rating while Rules of Engagement wasn’t too far behind, at 8.30, in terms of total viewers as 8.1 million tuned in but its 18-49 rating was lower at 2.8. ABC’s two-hour block of The Bachelor attracted 9.2 million viewers giving it a 3.0 rating while NBC’s The Biggest Lower trailed behind with 5.5 million viewers and a 2.1 18-49 rating. The latest episode of Fox’s drama series Bones pulled in 8.3 million viewers and had a 2.1 18-49 rating. Meanwhile Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries dropped to 1.2 million viewers with a 0.4 18-49 rating.

At 9pm 2 Broke Girls was seen by 10.1 million viewers with a 3.4 18-49 rating followed by Mike & Molly which had more total viewers as 10.3 million watched but a lower 18-49 rating of 3.1. As noted above The Following had 8.3 million viewers with a 2.8 rating. The CW’s 90210 showed no signs of recovery as just 530,000 viewers tuned in with a 0.2 18-49 rating. It’s hard to see how the teen drama will escape cancellation with ratings so low.

At 10pm ABC’s Castle was seen by 9.6 million viewers with a 2.2 rating while CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 had 8.9 million viewers and 2.0 rating. Deception on NBC limped on with 3.2 million viewers and a 1.2 18-49 rating.
