Robin Roberts returns to Good Morning America

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts has returned to the breakfast programme following a successful bone marrow transplant.

Robin opened the show surrounded by the GMA family, saying “I’ve been waiting to say this for 174 days, good morning America”.

She last presented alongside co-host George Stephanopoulos in June 2012 following her diagnosis of MDS – myelodysplastic syndrome which is a rare blood disorder that affects the bone marrow. It is five months to the day that Robin had the successful bone marrow transplant.

Good Morning America has been continuing its battle in the ratings table with NBC Today Show, which it has been edging ahead of in the past year. Robin’s return Wednesday is likey to push GMA further ahead.
