Dancing On Ice Ratings Continue To Fall

Dancing-on-Ice-presentersThe latest series of Dancing on Ice fails to sparkle for ITV as its ratings continue to fall sparking rumours, once again, of its impending demise.

Last year Strictly Come Dancing increased its year-on-year ratings and even managed to beat bitter rivals the X Factor. By contrast ITV’s Dancing on Ice has struggled once again in the ratings. Arguably the biggest name in this year’s line-up was Pamela Anderson but she was voted off in week one leaving behind a lacklustre line-up which included Keith Chegwin, Anthea Turner and Lauren Goodger.

On Sunday night the latest instalment of the struggling series pulled in 6.4 million viewers for the main edition. The results show, in which Corrie actress Samia Ghadie was voted off – pulled in just 5.2 million viewers. Its little wonder speculation is rife over the future of Dancing on Ice given its poor performance compared in previous seasons. It would seem the return of Jason Gardiner to the judges panel has not had the desired effect.

Elsewhere last night BBC One’s popular drama Call the Midwife continued with 8.6 million viewers. It was followed at 9pm by the series one finale of Ripper Street which concluded with 5.1 million viewers; a second series has already been ordered. ITV’s lavish period drama Mr Selfridge once again out-rated the gritty BBC drama as 6.4 million tuned in.

Meanwhile at 10pm  The Only Way is Essex returned to ITV2 with 1 million viewers; yesterday press reports claimed that Joey Essex is planning to quit the show.
