Sophie Holt Cast In An Adventure In Space And Time
Newcomer Sophie Holt is the latest casting announced for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary drama An Adventure In Space And Time.
The BBC Two drama, penned by Mark Gatiss, charts the genesis of Doctor Who and its first few years on television. Doctor Who Newspage reports that Sophie Holt has been cast as Jackie Lane in the drama. Lane played short-lived companion Dodo Chaplet in 19 episodes opposite William Hartnell and Peter Purves. The character was abruptly written out mid-way through the 1966 story The War Machines and as such had no real on-screen exit.
Sophie Holt is a relative newcomer to television and alongside her role in An Adventure In Space And Time she will appear in the forthcoming Poirot adaptation Elephants Can Remember.
As yet casting for the roles of Maureen O’Brien – who played companion Vicki in 38 episodes – and Peter Purves – who played Steven Taylor in 45 episodes – has not been announced. However, both are expected to appear in the BBC Two especially given later Doctor Who regulars such as Patrick Troughton are to set to be represented.
