Madeleine Mantock Joins Tomorrow People Pilot

Tomorrow PeopleMadeleine Mantock has been cast in The CW’s remake of the classic ITV drama The Tomorrow People.

The actress is the latest casting announced for the planned remake. According to reports the actress will play Astrid; a close friend of Stephen (played by Revenge actor Robbie Amell).

Mantock played the character of Scarlet Conway in BBC One‘s medical drama Casualty between 2011 and 2012 appearing in 36 episodes.  The Tomorrow People revolves around a group of young adults with special powers who are described as the next stage in human evolution.

The Tomorrow People, originally a children’s series, ran on ITV in the UK between 1973 and 1979 and was revived in the 1990s between 1992 and 1995. More recently Big Finish – who produce the wide range of Doctor Who and associated spin-offs audio dramas – revived the series for audio between 2001 and 2007.

The remake is being developed by Arrow producer Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec who is show-runner of The Vampire Diaries and currently developing its spin-off The Originals. Already cast in the drama are Australian actor Luke Mitchell, Mad Men’s Peyton List and Being Human actor Mark Pellegrino.
