Samantha Womack for Mount Pleasant role
The former EastEnders star told Click Liverpool: “I begin filming Mount Pleasant for TV alongside Pauline Collins in Manchester soon. And there may be a musical towards the end of this year, beginning of next, so that’ll keep me busy.”
Womack played Ronnie Mitchell later Branning in EastEnders for four years between 2007 and 2011. The character was at the centre of one of the soap’s most controversial storylines when Ronnie swapped her dead baby James for Kat Moon’s (Jessie Wallace) son Tommy.
The actress also revealed an ambition to direct in the future after shooting an anti-bullying video in 2005.
“There’s a film in the back of my mind I’d quite like to get out there and the older you get, the more sort of self-conscious and less comfortable in front of the camera you become.”
Mount Pleasant is expected to return to Sky Living for its third series later this year. The comedy drama starring Sally Lindsay and Angela Griffin explores the lives of various couples who live on a cul-de-sac in the North of England.
