Shobna Gulati reveals why she quit Coronation Street

Corrie: Ducess of Cornwall and Shobna GulatiShobna Gulati has spoken out for the first time about her decision to leave Coronation Street.

The actress announced late last year that she was leaving her role of Sunita Alahan in the soap to focus on other projects. In a new interview with The Sun, Gulati – who recently signed up to become a Loose Women panelist – has revealed the reasons behind her decision.

“Corrie fame made me a recluse. When I handed in my resignation I knew it was the right thing. I hope now I won’t feel like I’m living in a goldfish bowl and the stress in my life will be reduced.” – Shobna

She also admits battling with bouts of depression and suffering from anxiety attacks stemming from the attention working on a high profile programme garners.

The character of Sunita is due to be killed off in a fire which will rip through the Rovers Return later this month.
