Doctor Who 50th special to begin filming later this month

Doctor-Who-2013It has been confirmed that filming will begin on 18th March for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special.

November will mark the 50th anniversary since Doctor Who first appeared on our television screens. Caroline Wilson, the executive producer, confirmed last week that filming will begin on the 18th, and has promised “it will be big”.

Writer Steven Moffat, who oversees the day to day running of Doctor Who, is also due to begin filming for the third series of Sherlock. Moffat is co-creator of Sherlock alongside Mark Gatiss and is due back on BBC One early next year.

It had been speculated in recent days that Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) could make a return although Moffat has appearedĀ put an end to that this weekend.

The new series of Doctor Who is due to begin on Saturday 30th March on BBC One.
