Ceri Thomas appointed head of BBC News programmes

Ceri Thomas will replace Stephen Mitchell as the new head of programmes for BBC News.

The department oversees key BBC News programmes such as Panorama, Newsnight and Radio 4’s flagship programme Today. Ceri will take up his position on 18th March when Stephen Mitchell leaves the corporation.

Prior to taking up the new position, Ceri had been breakfast editor on Radio 5 Live and went on to become Radio Newsgathering Editor.
