Social TV Award winners announced

Simon Cowell, X FactorSkatta have hosted their first Social TV Awards at the home of BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, London. Winners included BBC’s The One Show, Heat Magazine and Simon Cowell.

The Social TV Awards rewarded exceptional creativity, vision, and the very latest inspirational technologies organizers say, with twelve categories serving to highlight those who are defining the future of television and multi-platform experiences – the most important revolution within media today.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke played host for the night and guests were not short of entertainment, which came in the form of dance troupe “Sultry” who opened the awards, beautiful singer, Tess Burrstone who wowed an audience of almost 250 people and later the British opera group “Amore”. Following the Awards, guests were invited to party on the dance floor.

Awards were presented by Camilla Dallerup, Kitty Brucknell, Leo Ihenacho, Lisa Scott-Lee, Billy Schwer, Liz Mitchell, Tess Burrstone, Amal Fashanu, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, Nikki Grahame, Anna Williamson, Helen Fospero, Debra Wootton and Poppy Jamie.

Technology with Branded Content Award:

Best use of technology with branded content to drive sales and loyalty via social/customer interaction

Winner: New Look – ‘Padequin’, ‘Blippar App’ & ‘Body mapping technology’

Live Streaming Award:

The streamed live event that either: grossed the most revenue, had the largest global audience, or generated the most interactive responses from viewers

Winner: Heat Magazine NTA Red Carpet, BAFTA Awards

Broadcast Journalism Award:

News and topical affairs: Judged on independent coverage of events with the best use of social interaction during broadcast

Winner: The One Show (BBC One)

Media Crossover Award:

Best migration of content over multi-platforms to increase viewer experience and interaction

Winner: Bauer Media

Entertainment TV Show Award:

The TV show that used Social Interaction to engage viewers and generate interaction pre-, during, and post broadcast

Winner: Strictly Come Dancing – (BBC One)

Best TV App Award:

Best cross-platform delivery and user experience from a TV App to enable seamless delivery with ease of use.

Winner: BBC iPlayer

Use of 2nd Screen Social Media:

Best use of a second device to enhance interaction whilst supporting the TV show and encourage voting and/or social interaction

Winner: The Xtra Factor (ITV2)

Drama and Soap Award:

Best social interaction by viewers driven by the storyline, and the ability of the actor/actress to directly highlight the social issues covered in the show through viewer interaction and engagement post broadcast

Winner: My Mad Fat Diary – Sharon Rooney

Viewing Device Award:

Best technology in the current Smart TV and multi-platform devices market, which enables ease of use and viewer interaction on a social level

Winner: Samsung

Music Award:

Most successful launch of a video, single or album promo using Social interaction with fans and viewers

Winner: Nicole Scherzinger – ‘Boomerang’

Social TV Entertainer of the Year:

Most successful and innovative use of social media by a TV entertainer during their show

Winner: Simon Cowell X Factor USA (ITV2)

Online Video Award:

Best use of online video based on reach and interaction, to drive sales of a music single with video content distributed via social networks and television promotion

Winner: Adele ‘Skyfall’

Guests included Sinitta who collected the “Social TV Entertainer of the Year” Award on behalf of Simon Cowell, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Johnny Shentall, Lee Latchford-Evans, Concrete Rose, Laurie Duncan, Tom Scurr, Jodie Comer, to name but a few.
