Your favourite Doctor Who?
Returning to our screens with its latest series this Saturday Doctor Who has had families hiding behind sofas and cowering under blankets for the best part of 50 years. Research by a hotel booking service has asked its customers who is the Doctor they’d most like some bedside manner from and who they’d like to exterminate, like those lovely Daleks do.The research has been carried out by online booking service hotel.info and reveals which of the eleven Doctors, and their faithful companions, the British public love or loath.
Top Five Bed-Buddy Doctors:
1. David Tennant (10th Doctor)
2. Matt Smith (11th Doctor)
3. Christopher Eccleston (9th Doctor)
4. Tom Baker (4th Doctor)
5. Paul McGann (8th Doctor)
Of the Doctors’ trusted companions, 17% of Brits would like to wake up next to John Barrowman’s character, Jack Harkness – who eventually went on to have his own spin-off BBC series, Torchwood. Followed closely by Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillen, the top 10 list also features a non-human companion in the form of K-9, a robotic dog that one in twenty of us would welcome waking up next to.
Top Five Hotel Room Companions:
1. Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)
2. Amy Pond (Karen Gillan)
3. River Song (Alex Kingston)
4. Rose Tyler (Billie Piper)
5. Clara Oswin Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman)
The Daleks also feature in the hotel.info survey, there is of course the myth the Daleks can’t get up stairs, but they have been seen in the original series to turn on their base boosters and fly up those pesky staircases so maybe they didn’t win this next poll due to voters thinking the old enemy couldn’t reach them, without the aid of a lift.
They are one of the Doctor Who villains that Brits would least like their room service delivered by. The Weeping Angels, who topped the list, pipped the fictional, extra-terrestrial mutants to the top spot.
Five Room Service Villains Least Welcome by Brits:
1. Weeping Angels
2. Daleks
3. The Silence
4. Cybermen
5. The Master
Andreas Klug, Country Manager for hotel.info commented: “With Doctor Who being such a phenomenon for so many years, we’re not surprised that fans have a preference to which Doctor they’d prefer to spend the night with.”
hotel.info doesn’t offer the option to select a Dalek dinner delivery however they do have reviews from over 27,000 business and leisure travellers. And no fee to cancel, should you get stuck in another dimension of time.
