Simon Cowell ‘returns’ to X Factor UK
Simon Cowell is expected to return in some form for the tenth series of the X Factor.
The creator of hit ITV reality show is said to be returning via a video link each week where he will give feedback on live performances. Cowell left the show in 2010 to launch an American version for FOX television.
A source told the Sunday Mirror that Cowell knows “viewers in the UK want him back on the show”. X Factor has struggled in the ratings since he, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue all left after the culmination of the 2010 series.
“Without being arrogant, he knows that if he is on the show, it will get higher ratings. He has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be a judge on both versions but it would mean travelling thousands of miles each week. It is impossible.” – Show ‘source’ speaking to Sunday Mirror
It has been heavily rumoured in recent weeks that Sharon Osbourne will replace Tulisa Contostavlos on the show. She was one of the original judges, along with Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, from 2004 – 2007.
Open auditions for the tenth series are currently underway.
