Coronation Street star Helen Worth marries partner

Coronation Street star Helen Worth has married partner Trevor Dawson.

Worth, 62, who has graced screens as Gail Platt since 1974, married the headteacher who is 8 years her junior at St James’s Church in London earlier today.

The pair announced their engagement in April last year.

Corrie co-stars including Sue Nicholls, Jack P Shepherd, Ben Price, Alan Halsall, Michelle Collins and Ryan Thomas turned out to watch the ceremony.

Thomas tweeted on his way to the church: “On the way to London today see my beautiful Helen Worth get married #ideffowillcry” 

Other names present included Lynda Bellingham and West End star Elaine Paige.

Worth arrived wearing a silk and lace gown and posed for photographers before entering the church.

Afterwards the wedding party headed for The Ritz Hotel. The Irish Independent reports that guests were escorted to the venue in vintage double-decker buses.

Worth was previously married to actor Michael Angelis.
