Peter Andre takes over 60 Minute Makeover
After nine years 60 Minute Makeover itself is getting refitted, with a new look and new host. Peter Andre takes over for the tenth series of the popular ITV daytime show under its new name of Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover.
The reality TV star will front 30 shows of the hour long programme which started in 2004 hosted by former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney.
The series sees one family member totally unaware that their home is about to undergo a revamp. The most ‘needy’ rooms are picked for a redecoration. The whole thing however has to be completed within an hour.
The team has the task of completing the total renovation of run-down and tired rooms before the houseowner returns home, the revamp is done in two 30 minute parts, and the removal of furniture, fittings and old fixtures is allowed to take place before the 60 minutes begins.
The 60 Minute team of designers and workmen travel around the UK transforming homes, solving design dilemmas and surprising people with amazing home makeovers.
Peter Andre said: “I am delighted to be the new presenter of Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover. I love these sort of shows and although this is a completely different experience for me, it is a much loved show and I am hoping to bring a new twist well to it. I love working in television, so this is a great new challenge for me.”
ITV Daytime commissioned Shiver, the factual division of ITV Studio UK, to make the new series. Other presenters have included Terri Dwyer of Hollyoaks fame, Through The Keyhole’s Catherine Gee and for a time a rotation of the make over designers hosted the show with a voice over provided by Alex Hall.
