BBC One acting controller announced

Charlotte Moore is to be the acting controller of BBC One until the corporation finds a permanent replacement.

The new director of television at the BBC, Danny Cohen, revealed in an email to staff this morning that Moore will oversee BBC One until they find someone permanent. Moore is currently commissioning editor of documentaries.

“Charlotte is a fantastic creative leader and I’m confident she will do a great job as interim Controller following her spell recently in charge of the BBC Daytime portfolio.

The most important thing is that we carry on with business as usual and Charlotte will be empowered to make commissioning decisions and maintain BBC One’s momentum.” – Danny Cohen

Cohen, who was previously BBC One controller, takes up his new position in May as director of BBC television. The BBC has confirmed that he will be paid £327,800 and will begin his new role on 7th May. Cohen says that he is “honoured” to be taking over the role of director of BBC Television.

Since October 2010, Cohen has been in control of the UK’s most watched channel and has introduced the nation to The Voice UK, Call The Midwife and The Syndicate. He will sit on the BBC’s Executive and Management Boards in which he will oversee BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four along with other BBC departments.
