Mary Portas to open OAP job agency for C4
High street brand expert and television presenter Mary Portas is to open the doors to Britain’s first ever employment agency for the over 65s.
Portas will create an agency representing a grey army – who could be 65 or 105 – to compete against the rest of the world in anything from catering to building, childcare to beauty. Mary will cast the net wide to recruit an army of OAPs who may have been cast aside by society, but still have very much to offer.
Mary Portas rose to nationwide fame on BBC’s Mary Queen of Shops before defecting to Channel 4. The retail expert was hired by the government to conduct a review into Britain’s high streets as they struggle during the economic climate.
“I can’t wait to see Mary bring the agency to life in her own, inimitable style. She passionately wants to give the older generation the opportunity to go on providing the services and skills sadly lacking in today’s marketplace.” – Commissioning editor Rich Evans
Mary’s Jobs for Life is expected to air on Channel 4 later in the year.
