The Breeze awarded Warminster commercial radio licence
Ofcom has announced that The Breeze has been awarded the re-advertised FM local commercial radio licence for Warminster.
Ofcom had received two applications for the licence, from the incumbent licensee Celador (South West) Limited, and from Spire FM Limited.
The licence is for a service, on 107.5 MHz, to cover the Warminster area which has an adult population in its Measured Coverage Area of 18,410.
The Breeze radio network is available in a number of areas in the south and west of England.
The licence is the smallest in England and Wales, covering just 18,000 people in west Wiltshire including Frome and Westbury. It’s being fully re-advertised after Ofcom received two “declarations of intent”, from the current licence holder, Celador Radio, broadcasting as The Breeze, and from Spire FM, around 20 miles away in Salisbury. Warminster and Frome are also already served by two community radio stations. The new licence will run for seven years.
