NBC axe nightly news magazine Rock Center

NBC has confirmed that Rock Center with Brian Williams will finish in June.

The nightly magazine show on NBC, fronted by Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, has suffered from poor ratings since its launch in 2011. Rock Center didn’t fair any better than the previous dramas that NBC would air in the 10pm ET slot on various nights.

Brian Williams paid tribute to the staff who worked on the show saying: “They investigated, cajoled, hustled and cared deeply.”

NBC News has struggled in recent months with a decline in ratings for its breakfast show Today and the in-fighting reported. Media Guardian reported Friday that ITV News editor Deborah Turness is set to become NBC News president.
