X Factor to avoid Dancing clash

X Factor will not face a direct clash with Strictly Come Dancing this year, it is reported.

Daily Star Sunday claims that ITV and Simon Cowell are wanting to avoid a clash with its BBC One rival Strictly Come Dancing. Last year the dancing show, won by Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, out performed the X Factor in the annual ratings battle.

A source told the newspaper: “They are concerned that the ratings were low last year and it is vital for advertising fees that they get big audiences.”

The X Factor has begun holding open auditions across the country as speculation mounts as to who will return to the judging panel. It was reported last week that Sharon Osbourne would be returning in bid to boost ratings.

Simon Cowell has ruled out returning to the show full time as he concentrates on the American version.
