BBC Three hire The Insider

BBC Three have commissioned a workplace documentary format series from Undercover Boss production company, Studio Lambert.

In each self-contained episode of The Insider, five young candidates compete for a highly desirable, fast-track position in one of the UK’s most exciting companies. They live together for ten days while undertaking assignments and group tasks before one of them is selected for the job.

But what four of the candidates don’t know is that one of their fellow competitors is actually one of the company’s senior managers. This person is ‘the insider’ and their role is to be the eyes and ears of the company; to see what the other candidates are really like and ultimately to decide who deserves the job.

And there’s another twist. Each episode starts with the insider’s identity kept hidden from the audience. But as the candidates settle into their shared accommodation and start working together it quickly becomes clear to viewers that all is not as it seems. Someone is emailing reports on the people in the group to the CEO and these reports contain details that could only be written by one of them. Who is the insider? For viewers, the guessing game begins.

BBC Three boss Zai Bennett, said: “The Insider is an exciting new format for BBC Three where applicants for a dream job will go through an interview process like no other. This show should reveal exactly what you need to do to get a job and what to avoid, especially when you think the boss isn’t looking.”

Once the candidates have completed the first of their work assignments, the insider’s identity is revealed to viewers when each of the candidates meets the CEO in individual face-to-face feedback meetings. Viewers then share the dilemmas faced by the insider as they work and socialise with the competing candidates. The decision as to who gets the job is solely made by the insider.

Each episode builds towards the insider revealing themselves to their surprised fellow candidates in a dramatic final act, where the best candidate is rewarded with a dream job.
