Corrie’s Neville Buswell denies latest sexual allegations

The former Corrie actor says the allegations are unfounded.

Actor Neville Buswell, who played long running character Ray Langton in Coronation Street, has denied the latest in a long line of sexual allegations against stars of the soap. The actor faces so far the least serious of all the claims, with two women suggesting he indecently exposed himself to them in the 1960s.

He reprised the role for a one off Las Vegas special in 1997 and later returned for six weeks in 2005, which saw the character killed off.

Yesterday it was reported a further fourth ‘Corrie star’ was being questioned about a sexual offence, but the identity of the man was not revealed. Now a couple of newspapers have reported the actor is Buswell who has spoken out to deny the claim he was a flasher.

He told The Mirror that he had never met the woman involved and denied any wrong-doing.

The 70-year old has been accused by two women about historic allegations of inappropriate behaviour dating back to the 1960s when both were girls under the age of 16.

Langton charted as Corrie’s 39th most memorable character in their top 50 for the soaps 50th celebration three years ago.

Fellow Coronation Street actors Bill Roache, Michael Le Vell and Andrew Lancel are facing court proceedings over sex offences.
