Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model returns for ninth series

Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model

Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model returns to Sky Living for another thirteen editions in which the judges look for the hottest new modelling talent.

As announced in December last year there will be a new addition to the judging panel in the form of fashion designer and model Dannii Minogue.

Adding a fresh dimension to the panel, new judge Dannii joins model and actor Tyson Beckford, and her fellow Australian, and host, supermodel Elle Macpherson, as they search the UK for the hottest new modelling talent.

Executive Producer of the show, Elle Macpherson: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Dannii. She is a powerhouse in fashion and television and this series has benefited from having her perspective on the panel.”

This year saw a record number of auditions held across the length and breadth of the country, visiting 17 cities from Plymouth to Glasgow. Thousands of entrants were whittled down to the top 28, who strutted and posed their way to a place at the Top Model Boot Camp. Here, the judges had the difficult task of deciding upon the top 14 girls, who were to make it into the infamous Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model house. With finalists ranging from a former Miss Ireland and a hostess at infamous London nightclub The Box, to a criminology student and a trainee hairdresser, this series looks set to have plenty of tears and tantrums.

Dannii Minogue: “Working with Tyson and Elle has been an absolute pleasure, and the level of talent among the girls is astounding. Each girl brings something special to this competition, and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to mentor them through this series.”

It is not only Dannii, Elle and Tyson that the aspiring models will have to impress during the course of the series, as there will also be an array of high-profile guests in this series. They will be imparting their knowledge in a bid to help the girls hone and refine their skills, and to continue in their quest to be crowned Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model. This series sees Jade Parfitt, Louis Smith and Jourdan Dunn all help the girls undertake numerous challenges, ranging from underwater shoots, to nude shoots and even a high fashion gymnastics challenge. However, in a series first, the guests no longer vote at eliminations and the power lies solely in the judges’ hands with Elle, Dannii and Tyson making the executive decision each week.

The girls are not just battling it out to win the title of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, they are also eyeing up a plethora of amazing prizes. Along with the title, the winning model will receive a contract with leading modelling agency Models 1, a cover and feature within Company Magazine, national campaigns with both make-up brand Revlon and hair-care brand TRESemmé, and finally a shopping spree to the stylish city of New York.

Over the course of thirteen weeks, the competition finalists will flaunt their modelling potential at demanding beauty shoots and gruelling fashion challenges, all in an effort to avoid a weekly elimination at the hands of Elle and the panel. With the return of the infamous makeover episode, an awkward accessories challenge and even a nude shoot, catfights, excitement and drama are a guarantee.

Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model starts on the 13th of June at 9pm on Sky Living HD.
