Simon Cowell reveals new US X Factor judging panel
Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio join the FOX reality show.
Cowell has confirmed the recent press reports that Kelly Rowland (pictured) and Paulina Rubio will join himself and Demi Lovato on the third season of X Factor.
They replace L.A. Reid and Britney Spears who decided to quit the show at the end of season two.
Rowland rose to fame alongside Beyonce Knowles and Michelle Williams as part of Destiny’s Child – one of the biggest selling girl groups of all time. She also appeared as a judge on the British X Factor in 2011.
Mexican Paulina Rubio, one of the biggest contemporary Latin artists, completes the new line-up. The 41-year-old has sold more than 20 million records worldwide with hits such as ‘Ni una Sola Palabra’ and her most recent hit ‘Boys Will Be Boys’.
Simon Cowell said he felt this was the right time to “do something different.” Rowland added that she “excited” to be returning to the X Factor family.
Khloe Kardashian will not be returning as co-host of the show which will see Mario Lopez return as solo host of the show. The first season was hosted by former T4 presenter Steve Jones, but was panned by critics and replaced for season two by Khloe and Mario.
X Factor season three is due to air on FOX this September.
Talent shows have been seeing a decline in viewership in the last several years. “The X Factor” famously undershot Cowell’s desire for 20 million viewers for Season 1, averaging about 11 million viewers per episode. Its second season finale attracted about 9.7 million viewers.
