Second series of Starlings for Sky

Sky-One-HDStarlings is to return to Sky 1 for a second series of eight episodes in July.

Written by and starring Matt King and Steve Edge, the comedy drama charts the ups and downs of a close-knit brood based in Matlock, Derbyshire. It proved a success when the first series aired on Sky 1 in a prime Sunday slot last year.

This series, for the first time the Starlings family looks in danger of falling apart. While Reuben needs Fergie and Loz to help with a big question he’s about to ask Bell, the relationship between Jan and Terry is tested to its limit by the arrival of Stephen, the tutor of Jan’s new writing class.

Prepare to see another side to Grandad  when he befriends a mischievous OAP, while romance looks to be on the cards for Gravy as he finally enters the world of work, Charlie explores her musical side by starting a band and Fergie is reunited with an old flame – who also happens to be Loz’s boss.

The show stars Brendan Coyle and Lesley Sharp with Una Stubbs, Cherie Lunghi and Vincent Regan joining the show for the second outing.

Starlings will air on Sky 1 and the HD Sky 1 from July.
