BBC’s talent show The Voice in ‘fix’ row
A tabloid newspaper has claimed singing contest The Voice has duped viewers with a ‘fake’ head-to-head battle between contestants Letitia Grant Brown and Alex Buchanan.
The Sun reports today that the show was ‘hit by a fix row’ after, they claim, mentor Jessie J rigged a vital part of the programme. On screen viewers saw Jessie have to make a decsion whether to keep or ditch 19-year-old Letitia Grant Brown or 23-year-old Alex Buchanan.
Beeb ‘insiders’ apparently informed the newspaper that the whole thing was fake and that Jessie had before the transmission made plans for the two wannabe singers. Its alleged that fellow coach Danny O’Donoghue was asked to “steal” Alex from her after she chose to “axe” him from the series.
“Jessie took Danny to one side before the show and said she preferred Letitia’s voice, but didn’t want to see Alex leave. So the pair agreed she would take Letitia through and Danny would save Alex.
“Viewers were led to believe Jessie was facing a decision between the artists based on their battle, but it was already a done deal. It makes a mockery of the idea that a singer’s fate hangs on how they perform on the night.” The source is quoted in The Sun.
The BBC have, as yet, made no comment on the tabloid’s claim.
